On February 5, 2011 members from our company were invited to share their story of inspiration with the people of Fatehpur in the Sikar District of Rajasthan, which falls in the Shekhavati region.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.
TEDxShekhavati, is an independently organised TEDx event curated by Masarat Daud-Jamadar which takes place in the Shekhavati region of Rajasthan. This event is attended by Shekhavati people: parents, children, school students and others who will be coming from different parts of Rajasthan and India. It’s the first TEDx in Rajasthan and also first TEDx in India for a largely-illiterate audience, which makes it even more interesting!
TEDx, x=independently organized event. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
Our board members Smt. Mishri Devi and Smt. Bhawari Devi were accompanied with Sh. Shivraj Vaishnav who shared the story with the people of Fatehpur. They talked about how they took matters in their hands and with dedicated passion and group efforts of women SHG members they were able to setup a company and increase their income while managing the company on their own.
We would like to thank the organisers of TEDxShekhavati for inviting our women to share their story. The members also got a chance to meet Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore the first Indian to win an individual silver medal in Olympics.
